I now want to flash the other ST3500320AS, SD1A to firmware 3.AAK , ST3750840AS.....

Anybody got that firmware flash? CAn share?

During CNY I did the flash, a hacker give me the software...can only use once then self destroy...CAnnot be use anymore but I confirm that firmware able to let me flash to firmware 3.AAK , ST3750840AS - 750GB..

according to the hacker...
the 1.5TB, 1TB , 750 GB and 500GB HDD are using the same platter ...the baracuda 7200.11 is the same family...

It is the firmware that locked the capacity...

thus by unlocking the firmware write to the hdd can enable to flash to bigger capacity hdd...

I trust him that is why I flash my firmware..

I did it once and it works..
source: Need fimware...Anyone have it?

Is this really works like that

Yes, it does work like that. There are some reserve sectors and hidden sectors, repair sectors. However, it is not wise to open up those capacity. Drive has gone through intensive test in the factory to make sure the only the best capacity is available for user. Let say u openup an unstable sectors and your OS happen to be install partly there.... you can say bubai after sometime..

Yup, no suprise since some drives share the same platter. Not all drives use the same platters even if it's in the same family.
