Default Hair dryer to clean PC

Hello guys. I'm back.

My PC has been collecting dust for years and sometimes when i left my PC untouched for weeks, it wont start until i clean the dust around the RAM. So i want to remove all the dust inside my PC. The best way is probably to use the air compressor can but i can't any here. So can i use hair dryer to blow cold air to remove the dust? My friend works in a saloon and he has a very powerful hair dryer. Will it generate any electrostatic charge and fry my PC?

You can use a can of compressed air usually. I'm a bit doubtful about using a hair-dryer since it might cause static. Let the experts here share their opinions about it in the meantime.

Yeah you can find cans of compressed air usually. Hair dryer won't really cut it. It pushes air but it's not "concentrated". Compressor would be best (50PSI!!!)

Hello Jet

Personally, after one bad experience I've always found that prevention is better than cure. So from then on I've been buying cases that allow me to filter all the intake fans. Might be something to consider in future

Hmm.. Hair dryers deliver dry air even if it's in the "cool" mode. That will generate static so I would not advise it even if our climate is quite "wet".

Too bad you don't have any friends at a car workshop. They have compressors that deliver a phenomenal amount of air! I use them to "clean" my car's air filter once in a while.

Hmm.. Can a vacuum cleaner really work?

I tried that before. It managed to suck out the loose dust but the gunk that's in the various corners and hard-to-reach parts are just too difficult to suck out.

Vacuum cleaners work well. That's how I did it in Malaysia. But over here, I carry my (heavy as hell) case outside and give it some 50PSI loving...
