According to Microsoft, certain games may hang or quit when the introductory video clip starts. You may also receive an error message like :- a) Video not available - cannot find 'VIDS:IV50' decompressor or b) Failed (hr=0x80004002) in pVW-> put_Owner((OAHWND)HWnd) Apparently, the problem occurs when the video that's being played was compressed with the Intel Indeo video codec. Windows XP SP1 does not come with the Intel Indeo video codec, hence the lockup or quitting issue. For more information, read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 327979.
