made same mistake last time.. now dont want to play with the encryption thingy again.. ive tried every possible way to hack the folder but cannot.. final solution, i deleted those folder..

but if there is a way, i would like to know..

Well, the disadvantange IS in fact the main advantage of the encryption system! All you need to do is to backup the necessary files. An easily cracked encryption file system is quite an oxymoron now is it?

Of course I don't use it because there's nothing that sensitive in my system enough to warrant an encryption and i even allow my system to auto login for convinience sake. The only security is physical security, well, at least for now.

i disabled to many security features../ bypass

-auto login
-weak passwords
-remote console

etc

LOL. After my incident, I never messed with Encryption too. Curiosity killed the cat (in my case the plethora of pics I had.

Lesson learned. Next time, don't play with important files or at least "copy" those files into a new folder.

It hasn't happened in this thread, but I've read many threads describing tales of woe when people don't backup their private keys and start blaming Microsoft when they realise a recovery is unlikely. Does anyone find it ironic that some people whine about a Microsoft product/feature when it actually works?

Not so. They can actually encrypt it and yet make it more flexible.

For example, instead of tying it to a particular login, they can encrypt the entire folder so that access to that folder requires a password.

Therefore, even if you reinstall Windows or merely copy it into another computer, you can still access the folder.

IMHO, I think Microsoft should add a pop-up that reminds or offers people to backup their private keys whenever they encrypt something.

Most aren't aware that it's tied to private keys. Not even me, not even Jason.
