Default Creating Dual Boot XP,98 on seperate drives ?

This is a question Adrian & others have answered b4 but I need to update the Q.I have an Abit IC7-G m/brd,80gb sata drive & a 10gb ata drive that I want to dual boot. XP on the 80 & I have a serillel adapter for the 10gb win98(not SE).I want to reformat both drives completely & hopefully someone can give me a step by step sequence (within reason)of which drive to install first (or plug both in at start) & whether there is any affect from using the adaptor. (And if any bios changes)
Basically I'm after a screen when I turn my computer on ,that asks me which op sys I want to use.

Well, you should install Windows 98 first. Then when you install Windows XP, it will detect the Windows 98 installation and automatically create a multi-boot option at startup.

Thank's again, people are usually a bit uncertain about the combination of two diff drives & two diff op systems regarding this question (& the serilell adaptor). Now ,just have to remember dos & installing win98, which XP has made alot easier to forget how to do.

Last Question on this, any takers. If I start with 98,I'm going to be looking at a dos screen so how will I determine which is :C & ? Should I reformat the intended XP drive before plugging both drives in?
Asking mainly because once my machine is down it becomes more of a problem to ask any minor questions!
Why does that yellow smiley face appear directly after :C&-,yet it appears as when I click on edit?
LOL,Once again when I type semi colon D it appears as smiley. X-files.

To answer your question, just boot with the Windows 98, it should be bootable.

How to determine which drive is which? Use dir command and check for HDD space?

Thanks for correcting my error but I was'nt typing commands into the forum. As I mentioned using XP this long makes it easy to forget all the commands. So is it needless to reformat XP drive before plugging both in?

Preferably, if you don't want troubles.
