Default Windows Multilanguage User Interface (MUI) Version

I have a problem here... hope someone can help.

I'm using a normal Windows XP English and I patch the system with a Traditional Chinese Windows Multilanguage User Interface (MUI) Version.

This pack is to change all the user interface (only) to Traditional Chinese while the core Windows XP is still in English.

Everything is ok until now. But a few problems surfaced.

Attached pic is the Command Prompt window which turned out to be small. Right-click under the Command Prompt shorcut properties, I found out that '950 (ANSI/OEM - Traditional Chinese Big5)' is the selected Code Page in Option tab. I can return the Command Prompt window to normal size if I change the Code Page to '437 (OEM - United States)' code page.

So, now I can open the Command Prompt from Start>All Programs>Accessories and a normal size and normal font Command Prompt will be prompted. But when I try to start a Command Prompt or DOS window through Start>Run>CMD or Command, it will prompt the small window.

So, I try to search the registry using a registry tool to track the before and after registry changes when I changed the Code Page from 950 to 437 and found the key below...

Quote:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console]
"CodePage"=dword:000001B5

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\Command Prompt]
"CodePage"=dword:000001B5
So, I thought this must be it... so, I changed back the Code Page to 950 and patch the reg key it to change 950 to 437. The keys did change but the command prompt that was prompted, turned small again. Wtf la? I tried to look under Command Prompt's properties and found that the Code Page remained 950.

Anyone can help?

Thanks in advance. My objective here is to create a patch to patch the system so that the Command Prompt window turn back to normal.

I can't really see anything in that screenshot. But if you are talking about the font size, why don't you try this :

1. Create a shortcut to the Command Prompt or use the one at Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories.

2. Right click on the shortcut and select Properties.

3. Click on the Font tab.

4. Select a larger font size.

Hope that works for you.

Well, open a Command Prompt window and compare it with mine. Do you notice the stark difference in both the size of the fonts and the type of font used?

That's because your Command Prompt is using a US Code Page, 437. It normally doesn't show in your Command Prompt's properties if your pc is using English only Windows XP. But if you were to patch it with this pack, you will see a few Code Pages options available.

That's the problem I'm facing. Coz by default after installing the patch, it defaults to 950 (ANSI/OEM - Traditional Chinese Big5) and not 437 (OEM - United States).

I can change it to 437 through the Command Prompt properties but how should I do it if I want to patch this problem without the user knowing this at all?

Can't you change that in the Regional and Language Options in Control Panel??

Just go to the Advanced tab. You can set the language for non-Unicode programs as well as mess with the Code Page Conversion Tables.
