could be registry corrupted, a RAM problem, CPU not enough power, processor too hot? maybe a little more info on when it started acting up... did you recently change something?

anyway fyi, since WinXp disabled the blue screen of death and opted for a reboot instead whenever it crashes, hard to figure out what's the problem causing it without knowing the error messages..

EDIT : you mentioned the HDD works fine on another PC, was the HDD previously working ok with this PC?

Hmm.. You should tell us more about your system - is it a new system? what are the system specs? etc...

Also, did you check your memory modules with Memtest86?

i'm guessing your SATA HDD is less than 2 years old.. i'm also narrowing it down to either the HDD or the mobo as the main culprit. do you have another HDD to try boot up with that mobo? perhaps an ATA HDD instead..

oh yeah, before that you could maybe try using your other SATA ports as well...

you mean you've got only 1 SATA HDD.. and that you tried the other SATA slots but it doesn't work as well? then it could be something wrong with the mobo SATA slots... how long have you had that mobo?

Wait.. Try booting up with a Memtest86 boot disk and checking your memory modules first. Use a thorough test.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Test with Memtest86 and see what it reports.
