Default Software to close other programs?

I'm looking for a program that can close down an open program. (Specifically AOL) It's not for me, and it would be best if it were freeware. Sometimes it's open, sometimes it not but he wants AOL closed every night.

Well, I did a Google search and found it, but it won't work because it closes everything, and sometimes he's up doing things, just nothing involving AOL.

Now, if there was a way to get anything to close it (including a batch command) that would be helpful as well. I could just use the Scheduled Tasks to time it out.

There you go... a built-in Windows task kill.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d.../taskkill.mspx

Just get the Process ID (PID) for your AOL (Windows Task Manager>View>Select Columns>PID), then look for your AOL to get the PID.

Then you can create your batch file. An easy one would be.. (replace the number with your program PID).

Quote:
@echo off
taskkill /f /pid 9999
taskkill /f /pid 3688

rem [as many taskkill process as you want]
rem /f is to force the task to be kill off without prompting anything
For those who don't know how to create a batch file, just type those in quote in a notepad (remember to replace the PID with a proper one), save it as filename.bat. Then run it whenever you feel like it.

Yeah, definitely better and easier to identify too.

Used to use this taskkill when I was not at home and my father kept complaining my PC's Internet access very slow (was downloading stuffs as usual). So, I created this batch file for him to click on, instant FAST Internet access.

Now that he has his own PC... I don't care anymore. I also downloading stuffs from my PC. But connection is better with a router than a hub, he doesn't complain as much.

Well, to use /im, do I just put in "taskkill /IM AOL"?
