Default Changing F drive to C drive

I have two hard drives one is 'C' and has Windows 98. The other is 'F' and runs Windows 2000. I do not want to run '98 anymore and would therefore like to change my 'F' drive into the 'C' drive. I understand this has to be done with great care even if possible. Any takers?

Not sure what u are trying to achieve here, chaging drive letter won't do much...but u r thinking what i'm thinking then read on.

Depends on how u setup your PC in the first place, I presume your machine is multiboot in this case, and that you installed your Win 98 first. And now you want to set your default boot drive to Win2K?

Then you need to go to system propertise>advance and set the default OS to win 2K. That will keep the boot partition on the Win98 and boot directly to Win 2k.

If you have two seperate hardisk, and you want to retire your win 98 hardisk then you need to set the Win2k hardisk to master and the Win98 to slave by setting the jumpers at the hardisk (that's assuming you r sharing the hardisk with 1 IDE cable), but it is possible that your win2k hardisk may not boot at all cause if i remember correctly that hardisk may not contain a boot partition. If that's the case you might need to reinstall your win2k (no need to format just overwrite the OS will do). If you are using one hardisk with multiple partitions (which u are not) then it's a whole new issue.

If yoo think this is too complicated then do what i usually do....backup all your files and start from fresh....
