I've been tasked to put together a backup solution for our company (~3000), but we're a government organisation and so money is limited. I'd basically decided the only option was a standalone simple backup for our users with all the problems that goes along with that, but a mate who works for another ex-government R&D agency suggested I look at this indigo backup and indigo grid software. http://www.indigoprime.co.uk I've been to the site and it appears to be a freeware mid-end enterprise class backup system with all the usual centralised control. It also seems to be scalable from a single home user to a full integrated system! Useful but weird! However, I've never heard of the company before. Now, my mates place has been using it since 2001, but Indigo Prime don't seem to advertise anywhere?! Also why would this company give this stuff away for free?? So, anyone tried this software? Is it any good? And anyone know any better enterprise class backup software that's cheap or even better free? View appreciated, cheers guys |

Can't believe this stuff is free My only reservation is that the control software for it is a little confusing to set up but with a bit of help from the support guys at Indigo Prime I eventually got it sorted. As it seems to work just as well as a personal backup solution I'll be wacking shittycopy in the bin and switching to this instead if everything goes well, as it even backed up open Outlook files with no issues. Anyway I intend to test it out on a 100 users on Tuesday once I've got my head around the SDK you can get for it - wish me luck! Hats off to whoever designed the stuff ![]() |
