Reputation: 28 ![]() Rep Power: 5 | After reinstalling sp2 & compulsory user logon that goes with it,I cannot start one of my drives! A while after using the run command "user controlpasswords2" to rid the individual logon, everything worked perfectly for a time. But after trying to install a mongrel program,my computer loads onto the desktop & then when near completion it decides to restart all over again. I can only guess that the install stuffed something & I cant restart because of the auto logon! Anyone know how I can restart my drive without another full re-install? P.S. Even though I can access the drive thru my other one,it does'nt allow me to use sys restore or anything like it!

List O/S version and any hardware changes you may have made. Also list any logon dependant hardware you may use (ie: smartcard, etc.). More detail can help us to help you. |

Reputation: 36 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | I don't get many XP Home systems in front of me, since my client base is made of small to medium businesses. However, it has been my experience the XP Home will use the Welcome screen to log a user on if one of two conditions exist: Welcome Screen in check-marked to allow in the users control panel menu, or there are more then one user account. I know that .Net 2.0 adds a user account with the update, so that often times causes the Welcome screen to come up on an otherwise single user system. Remove the .net account and your system will boot straight into Windows. I hope this helps.
