Is Window XP SP 2 safe?
no other updates
non-microsoft office products(ms outlook...)

Yeah, provided you are not thinking of connecting to the Internet. Then it's safe.

Isn't Outlook part of MS Office?

Nothing is safe, unless you don't plug in your network cable.

Yeah, it is essential to update the windows, provided that your system is connected to the internet.

A few days ago, I installed Windows XP SP1 into one of my system and it is a very old copy. Right after I installed the OS, I connected to the internet and within a few minutes, it is infected by some virus already

So I ended up reinstalling the OS (this time with SP2)

Yeah I recommend you update to SP2 too... it's the same as SP1 just safer.. not that you are safe with windows anyway...
