Default office 07 (office 12) - from the ring to the ribbon..

took it during an interview with -------, the M of office user experience team.

didn't talk much about the application. more on the UI and all the interesting research behind it. extremely fun!

the first prototype. (2003. prior to the launch of office 11). it was called the ring or something like that. can you see the "ring" menu on the top left? was told that it was supposed to rotate and has this cool "fuuwenn...fuwenn.." sound effect nothing concrete yet

still nothing concrete here..

novermber 4, 2003. was told that this is the born of the "Ribbon" interface. codenamed tomatooey, due to the skin color (very tomato-ish).

coding started in late spring 04, app was useable in late 04/early 05. interface the XML-based, running on top of an abstract platform. you can re-arrange the button without having to re-compile the coding of the app.

no more easter egg due to security regulation. but if you go to "insert caption", and check out the picture in the quick preview box...crap gtg now. brb. tbc
