How to uninstall/reinstall WMP9?

Is there any way to uninstall windows media player 9? For some reason I can't play any streaming media that uses wmp. In firefox it gives me a message saying "Cannot create directshow player," and in internet explorer its just a black screen where the media player should be. So I want uninstall and then reinstall windows media player so I can watch my sports highlights. Is there any way to do this. I know windows and their stupidity and greed want to force people to use their media player. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

No, my OS is windows server 2003 and it doesn't support wmp 10.
