Reputation: 3005 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 45 | windows on windows, a 32-bit emulator built into x64 windows. runs at native speed and is used translate 32-bit calls so that all 32-bit apps can be executed on x64 windows. 64bit registry and 32bit are under different trees. the same goes to system and program files. unless your app requires a driver (eg, adobe PDF printer, cd/dvd/bluray burning app, vid camera, handphone..etc), all 32-bit app will run just fine on x64.

Reputation: 3005 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 45 | 64-bit forceware and catalyst have existed for more than a year. x64 doesn't take 32-bit driver but it can run 32-bit app, through WOW. so my point was that there are still alot of developers out there who just don't bother to release 64-bit drivers. take adobe as an example. 32-bit acrobat pro 8.0 can't print to PDF on x64 windows because it lacks 64-bit drivers . Patch v8.1 fixes this issue (as adobe finally added in 64-bit driver support, but the application is still 32-bit, and runs in WOW environment). So a 32-bit game will run on x64. in WOW environment. i completed all my 07 games on x64 vista

Otherwise, WOW works great. more than 50% of my installed apps are on the "Program Files (x86)" folder anyway. And that include quite a few games too |
