4gb on vista ultimate 32-bit

i'm wondering, can vista ultimate 32-bit support 4gb of RAM ?

Yeah, I had mine at ~3.3GB effective in windows.

Waiting for WHS x64 connector before a reformat.

Yeah thats total space. So cache + graphics ram + all other stuff and leftover is system ram.

I posted something about this a while back (too lazy to go look for it lol).

Conclusion,

- If you want to use 4GB, don't use 32-bit.
- If you want to use 32-bit, don't use 4GB.

The system memory that is reported in the System Information dialog box in Windows Vista is less than you expect if 4 GB of RAM is installed

Yup, you need to account for graphics RAM too. Especially important for those using high-end graphics cards with 512MB / 768MB or 1GB of graphics RAM.

if you want to 4GB of RAM, 64bit is the way to go.

btw, how does dual channel 3gb run ?

I think you still don't get it. It means that the OS will not take advantage of the extra RAM. It will work fine with 4GB.
