Default Why Reboot?

Handy little software for those who like to fiddle around with their Windows OS

Homepage: WhyReboot | Exodus Development

An Article About it: Why Are You Asked to Restart After Install or Uninstall Software? » Raymond.CC Blog

Quote:
WhyReboot is a small (~100KB) Windows application that helps you decide whether to reboot your computer after running an installer. It does this by displaying a list of "pending file operations" (rename, delete, etc) that will occur after rebooting your computer. Quite often, no reboot is really needed.

i am fine with rebooting after installing an application, the one that is the most annoying is when you enable automatic windows update, it just keeps on popping up the window, interupting whatever you are doing asking you to reboot. Not to mention the automatic reboot after like 10 seconds if you do not click no.

As for the whyreboot software, dont know if its more trouble to simply reboot or use the software to determine if a reboot is necessary

Nice find however I don't mind as it doesn't take long for a computer to reboot.

For new system that is... my AMD64 system which the Windows was installed 4 years ago started acting funny 2 years+... I managed to hang on until I changed to my current C2D system.

Problems encountered:
- slow startup
- right-click at desktop or empty space in folder takes 10-15 seconds for the menu to pop-up.
- running out of RAM all the time

and many more. With the current C2D system, it's a breeze (for the moment) .
