Oh, the data corruption is due to the camera. The D70 has been screwy for some time, but I didn't expect it to corrupt the CF card when I took a picture.

I used Windows Vista's disk checking utility to correct the file errors and it did an okay job. It's just that some of the files that were restored were given invalid names. Odd for Windows Vista to do that since it should know that they are invalid.

Now, I can't rename them or access those restored files in any way cause they have invalid file names.

You might try PhotoRec, this haven't used it but he makes another recovery program called testdisk that works great.

Google it as I can not post any links at the moment until i have five posts under my belt?????????? Should take you to CGsecurity site

Thanks, Nate. I got Ken to use Linux to rename the files. Phew... He managed to rescue them.

Yeh linux is good for fixing stuff windows always messes up!!!!!

I realize that and it is a neccessity but just gets cubersome sometimes. Oh well I almost have enough posts now.
