We could, but my only hesitation is that, to me, when something goes from 1.x to 2.x it's a pretty major rebuild. Strip away the UAC detection and it's more or less version 1.2

Ok, nearly finished. But I have a few things that I can't do.

- disable UAC by changing the registry's value. I've tried using reg.exe and a few other methods, but I can't change the value, no admin rights.
- after UAC is disabled, system restart and autorun batch file

What I managed to do (testing now):

- Detect Windows type and UAC status
- Prompt user to disable UAC and invoke the UAC option screen of the current user
- Enable UAC after benchmark is finished

I'll try more tomorrow. Any inputs would be much appreciated.

x264 HD Benchmark v2.0 Beta

Changes done (not much really):-

- Moved the batch file to test folder
- Deleted [x264_benchmark-720p-Vista UAC Enabled Systems Only.bat]
- Added [x264_benchmark-720p.vbs] to the root folder
- Added [enableUAC.vbs] in test folder

Run [x264_benchmark-720p.vbs] now instead.
- If detected Vista with UAC on, will prompt user about it and ask to disable

Update: I got the benchmark batch file to autorun after UAC is disabled and system restarted by adding it to the Startup folder. But unfortunately, if avisynth is not installed, the batch file will close automatically. Dang... wasted.

So, I guess if nothing is wrong with the one uploaded above, that will be all from me.

Working fine here guys I tested with UAC disabled and then actually used the option Dash created to turn UAC on for the second test. On the second run all the prompts came up and used the batch file to reboot the system.

Manually selecting to run the benchmark after reboot isn't really a big issue Dash so unless a real simple fix presents itself I would chalk that up as insignificant

So all clear here good work guys

Unlock The Supersecret Administrator Account For Vista

Deep inside the bowels of Windows Vista, there’s a secret Administrator account, and it’s different from the normal administrator account you most likely have set up on your PC. This Administrator account is not part of the Administrator group. (Confused yet? You should be.) It’s a kind of superadministrator, akin to the root account in Unix, and by default it’s turned off and hidden. (In describing this tut, i’ll always use the capital “A” for the secret Administrator account, and a lowercase “a” for a normal administrator account.)

In versions of Windows before Windows Vista, the Administrator account wasn’t hidden, and many people used it as their main or only account. This Administrator account had full rights over the computer.

In Windows Vista, Microsoft changed that. In Vista, the Administrator account is not subject to UAC, but normal administrator accounts are. So the Administrator can make any changes to the system and will see no UAC prompts.

Turning on the Administrator account is straightforward. First, open an elevated command prompt by typing cmd into the Search box on the Start menu, right-clicking the command prompt icon that appears at the top of the Start menu, then selecting Run as administrator — or just use the shortcut you created in the previous hack.

Then enter this command and press Enter:

Net user administrator /active:yes

From now on, the Administrator account will appear as an option on the Welcome screen, along with any user accounts you may have set up. Use it like any other account. Be aware that it won’t have a password yet, so it’s a good idea to set a password for it.

If you want to disable the account and hide it, enter this command at an elevated command prompt and press Enter:
