Default How to Install WinXP on Acer Aspire 4520?

Please help. I had a Acer Aspire 4520 laptop. (which designed to use with Vista). Anyone here use this laptop with Windows XP?

I had installed WinXP on this laptop, with most of the necessary devices are complete installed. However, I still short of 3 "Base System Device" and a "Unknown Device".

May I know what is those devices. I had all video, audio, network, wireless controller installed. Attached is a snapshot of my Device Manager.

Many thanks.

Thats odd looks like its missing drivers for something. I am assuming you have updated to XP SP2 is it possible some of the hardware is new enough that you might not see support until SP3 is released

(Or perhaps the CD that came with the system has them ? )

Yup, definitely missing drivers. There's no XP drivers download from Acer website. Why did you not use Vista?

Yeah, you better go on Acer's page and look up for some drivers. Usually, most notebook makers don't have much driver support for XP when the laptop came in Vista originally.
Acer's site isn't working for me now, but I'm guessing one of the missing devices is Texas Instruments Flash Media

Thanks. Those 3 "Base System Device" are from Card Reader driver. That solved.

Now i still got that "Unknown Devices".

But i think that might be either Infrared or Bluetooth. Looking for the driver now.

Certain software still Vista not-ready. No choice i had to put WinXP into it.

Acer Malaysia doesn't got any support for this model.

i suggest one way to find out would be to install window vista, then go to device manager and write down what those devices are then install back window xp and search for those device drivers manually

Thanks. I'll note down this step.

As what I expected, the "unknown device" is actually the Infra red device.

Now all the problem solved. Case close.

Thanks everyone.
