How many partition you create on single drive?

I am wondering, since hard drive is selling cheaper nowadays especially 500GB, 600+ and 750GB. How many partition does it require to make?

Mine maximum is three partitions create on single drive. But people insist recommend two only used in Window (dont count the unused like recovery of something), so I wonder what's you view on this one.

single partition hehe. I am not sure if there a max. But shud be able to be more then 3 since linux require more partition for swap, bla bla

I have six partitions on my 500GB Samsung drive.

1 Vista (32-bit)
2 Vista (64-bit)
3 XP
4 Data
5 Ubuntu
6 Swap

It doesn't really matter how many partitions you have. I have another 2 partitions per HDD.

I have only 1 partition for each of my HDDs.

I used to use two partitions for my notebook :
- OS & software (including documents and Outlook)
- Work files and media files

But for additional data security, I now use three partitions :
- OS & software only (totally disposable, no data)
- Work files, documents & Outlook files
- Media files and other junk

For some reason, I noticed that my system was generating soft errors in the NTFS filesystem after weeks of not rebooting. On two occasions, I retrieved corrupted documents from the OS drive, so I decided to move all data files to their own dedicated partition.

I use only one partition per hard drive, unless I have Windows installed on it. In that case I'll use a 60 to 80 GB partition for Windows, and leave the rest of the space in another partition.

Same. 1 HDD for OS and Programs, 1 HDD for documents etc.

2 partitions on my WD640 hdd (40gb for os,remainder for storing documents,programs) and 1 partition on my WD750 hdd

)
34.8 GB for my data
10.5 GB for songs (initially for linux or OS X, need the extra space

)
