Default How to transfer the entire HDD to another bigger HDD?

As topic, my 160GB hdd is getting full with HD contents and I plan to get a 750GB HDD, then transfer the entire 160GB with the OS to the 750GB HDD, any idea how I can do it?

Currently my 160GB HDD has 2 x 80GB partition, I might create 300GB x2 + 150GB partition.

Hence I would like to place everything from my old C (80GB partition) to the new 300GB partition and the old D (80GB) to the new 300GB partition.

What softwares should I use?

You could use Acronis True Image - expensive piece of software but really good or the free XXClone from pixelab.

Yup, I used TrueImage to clone my WinXP on my 120GB drive to my 500GB drive. Just a few clicks, restart and you're done

agree on Acronis True Image, I had one made into bootable dvd with my image burned into it, become a recovery disc

as for your solution, try DriveImage XML Backup Software

I used to use Norton Ghost, but once when restoring a backup that was split into multiple files, it failed.
I've since switched to Acronis True Image and had nothing but good luck. Great suggestions, DarKSeeD and lee_what2004; I didn't even know there was free software available for this.

Same here. I just done it using Acronis when I upgraded to Velociraptor. Can't tell it's a new HDD!

when you install it, there will be "create bootable disc" on the start menu on Acronis. With that, it will create an iso, that iso is the bootable True Image.

You don't need to burn a disc. Just connect your new hdd and start Acronis then choose the Clone option. The operation will take a while but you'll have the new hdd with OS and all the files from old one. The interface is pretty simple and easy to use.
