Default AGP TEXTURE ACCELERATION

Hi all!

I hope someone can help me solve my AGP related problem so I 'll get right to it:

System Specs first:
-------------------
Windows XP Pro with SP1 (tried on SP2 also) - FRESH INSTALL
AMD AthlonXP @ 2400 Mhz
M/B MSI KT4V (VIA KT400 Chipset)
512 MB RAM SDRAM DDR PC 2700 Kingston
ATI RADEON 9700 Pro 128MB RAM (Built by Ati)
80GB Maxtor HDD
-------------------
NOTHING IS OVERCLOCKED - ALL DEVICES RUNNING AT DEFAULT SPEEDS.

I have installed all the latest M/B (Via Hyperion 4 in 1 - 4.56v)and VGA (Ati Catalyst 5.10) drivers and DirectX 9.0c.

Running 3D applications/games warns that "AGP Texture Acceleration" is NOT enabled and performance will suffer because of that.

I double checked that running "dxdiag" DirectX diagnostic tool and it also reports in "Display" tab that "AGP Texture Acceleration" is NOT available.

There is a grayed out "Disable" button next to this option, unclickable, so I am not allowed to "Enable" agp texture acceleration from the DirectX diagnostic tool.

(DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration are both normaly enabled and perfectly working)

Things I've tried to enable "AGP Texture Acceleration" and didn't worked are:

1. Tried lowering Hardware Acceleration step by step all the way down in advanced settings of Display Properties dialog / Restart after each change.

2. Tried using older VGA and/or M/B drivers (Catalyst 5.7 to 5.9)

3. Tried fresh Win XP Pro installations with SP1 or SP2

4. Enabled Fast Writes, Side Band Addressing, and anything I thought related to the VGA in the M/B Bios.

I also want to you to know that with this VGA card I remember there was NO such problem about some months ago....on a similar WinXP Pro setup with the same M/B.

I have run out of ideas so any suggestions or solutions to similar problems you might have had are welcome!

Thanks a lot and sorry for the big post

Sylvios

It looks like your AGP driver isn't working. Try reinstalling your 4-in-1 driver. Or try a different version.

yea i've had problems with VIA motherboard drivers before. You might want to just use the version that came with your motherboard.
