New 6600gt out of box not functioning properly

Hey guys,

Ive had many problems with video cards in the past and now, after waiting for 3 months, have finally got a new geforce 6600 gt agp. now heres my issue. I cant play any games without continuous lag. No artifacts or anything, but the fps jumps from usually 100 to 0 to 72 and so on and so forth. It continues on. I cant play any games, agp fast writes on, agp 8x on, Everything I know ive tried to fix it. Ive tried 4 different drivers including the latest nvidia omega drivers. I dont know what to do. Usually the drivers load and my cpu load is 100% but using HJT i disabled some of the system drivers and startup drivers to get my system back to normal. This sucks and Id like a solution.

i take it you've tried lowest setting for graphics? still getting heavy loads? perhaps defrag might help.. or a reformat..

P4 2.8ghz, 1.5 gigs ram, 200 gig maxtor hdd, aopen ax4sg motherboard

This is agp 8x.

Did you scan for spyware?

Edit: alright foudn the problem. It was the drivers, I downgraded to nvidia 71.90 or w/e. But heres another problem. It like lags out whenever I tunr vsync off (makes your fps equal to refresh rate.) IT lags like it was doing. This card was meant for open gl 1.5 and I dont know which version I have or how to check. Other than that Ive met all the requirements.

Dont bother with V-sync.

im gonna rma it, it isnt functioning properly. Even without drivers installed I boot up and theres lag. Thanks guys.
