Default Geforce 6200

Hey there, I know that's a cheap card, but according to the reviews, this card can do very well on high-quality with no or less AA/AF in 800x600 resolution.

Currently, which is the best ultra dirt-cheap 6200 you can get (of course without the Turbocache thingy)?

And also, heard that it's moddable to 6600. Are all the 6200s capable of being converted into these?

IIRC only the AGP 6200s could be modded

Bought some PNY 6200 on Tuesday, will try to buckle it up to 6600 ... ^^

Only possible with non-TC versions!!(TC version has NV44 with only 4 pipelines)
Lets start with installing Rivatuner from here
Start it and let it do its job setting its registry up.
Tell the program you're a power user, which you are ofcourse
Click on "NV43 A2 4x1, 3 VP" and choose the first pictogram after that.
Go to NVStrap and choose under "active pixel pipelines numbers" 8 and you're done.
Would someone post some benches plz?

What cores DO unlock?
If you install Rivatuner and it says "NV43 A2 4x1, 3 VP" or "NV43 A3 4x1, 3 VP",
you're good, if it says "NV43 A4 4x1, 3 VP" you got unlucky. (In other words: A2 and A3 cores do unlock, A4 cores don't)
Ed2.:
Dang, mine's some A4 ...

Yes, I'll be purchasing the AGP version if it's very dirt cheap. I know I can do that thru the Rivatuner, but the thing is, do they mention about the N43 core type on the box or its specs in the net/catalog? I couldn't seem to find it at all.

edit: Dang, I have to find a non-turbocache version to maybe unlock it!

Afaik there's no AGP-version of the TC-cards, only PCIe.
Or am I wrong?
'Bout the NV43/44 problem ... you'll hardly find any sign of
this spec onto boxes or in cataloges ... try manu-site.

Yeah, TC requires the bandwidth of the PCI Express.

I'm finding the AGP 'cause I wanna use it for my special (but a little bit freaky) Asrock 775 Conroe board (I've already reviewed about it!).

Heard that the 6200 is at least better than the 9600, but no better than these turbo-charged versions of 9550.

Not sure whether the Forsa 6200 w/ DDR2 cards are able to be modded to 6600, since they are abundant in my nearest store.

6200 should be faster than 9550 in the end ...
But on a level where it really doesn't matter at all. ^^

Hmm... but strangely, the 6200 AGP is very hard to find. I've phone 3 shops that are nearby to my house, and all of them don't have this card.

Guess I have to run to the tech market (Low Yat) again if I have to. Not sure whether an intergrated 6100 will outdo a 6200 offboard...

edit: bestiary, dude, I didn't know that you are back after a long time!

Back at last ... ^^

AGP-6200 was hard to find here, too.
Kinda sold out.
