Default 8600gs vc 7600gs

Hi all, I am looking for graphics card to upgrade from the crappy integrated graphics for some casual gaming and for around $60-70, these two cards are cheap buys. I was wondering if anyone think i should get one over the other or whether it would be worth it to get two and put it in Sli?

If the both are priced the same, the 8600GS is the better choice.

Its not worth getting two for SLI.

86000gs is better than 7600gs, the numbers speak for itself

As for SLI, its not worth the little performance you gain at the cost of 2 cards. Its better to use that money to get a single superior card and you will certainly get more performance than applying SLI with 2 inferior cards.

pointless to SLI low-mid range cards.

like say the HD3650 / 8600GT or anything else around or lesser than their performance. it's a waste of $$$ and power.

SLi-ing 2 low-end cards isn't going to help beat a better graphics card.

An 8800GT could have spanked two 2 8600GTs at the same time. Is it true?

I too recommend any 8600 card over a 7600 series card. SLI will be a waste of time and money as well... but that's your call.

easily, without having to rely on game / driver support of SLI.

Easy peasy lemon easy.

Take a look at our review. Take the BioShock results for example.

The GeForce 8800 GT is almost 2.5X faster than the GeForce 8600 GTS. So, there's no way two GeForce 8600 GTS or GeForce GT cards can even come close to beating a single GeForce 8800 GT.

Actually SLI on any NV card isn't going to do much check the scores on Crysis for FPS. One 8800 Ultra is faster than 3 in SLI

A brief look at three-way SLI - The Tech Report - Page 7

Is it really worth the cost of 3 cards vs 1 ?
