Seriously, what's the point of 9800 series? They are not that much faster than 8800 series, not especially GTX and Ultra...

As I understand it, the new GeForce 9 series will have two new technologies - HybridPower and Dual HD Stream Processing.

However, what NVIDIA doesn't want people to know is that... the G92-based GeForce 8800 GT/GTS 512MB cards also support the two new features!

Obviously, you will need to use the new ForceWare 174 driver, which was what I tried to do here - Tech ARP - ED#85 : Getting NVIDIA ForceWare 174 To Work With GeForce 8 Cards

But I think they are intentionally locking out those features for GeForce 8800 GT and GTS 512MB for now. Maybe they will enable the features in the future.

I agree I think of the 9800x2 as 2 8800's really *shrugs*

The only card from the 9xxx series so far that has impressed me both price wise and performance wise is the 9600gt. Other than that all this 98xx stuff is old technology with a different number nothing really new ...

Yup, agreed! That's why I specifically said 9800 series instead of 9000 series.
