Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | 3dmark06 scores 1800...my cpu is avg but the sm 2.0 and 3.0 are extremely low when compared to similar machines. sm 2.0 = 741 sm 3.0 = 641 cpu = 941 p4 3.2ghz gigabyte ga-8i865gme-775-rh 450w psu 2 x 512 gig ddr400 2-3-3-6-64u 160 meg raid and 160 meg ide pny nvidia 7600 gs 512 meg core 400 mem clock 540 actual overclocking is not an option on this mobo.. i did change cas timings and bios and got 100 more points on score. but it still compares real bad. I also notice that the 3dm shows my ram slot 2 as empty which is weird. maybe i have some memory problem? I also notice in windows... system info only showing my total physical ram as 512.....but in task manager it says 1024. I've had windows memory test run overnight for 12 hours and no errors. maybe its just cheap ram and cheap mobo combo for a bad score? I'm kind of nooby and new to forum... i thank you in advance for all your help. |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | the other thing is when playing games... no matter what the video settings the fps stays basically the same. I always thought i was just cpu limited.... but now that i've compared to others with 3dmark06 i notice my cpu score is severely better than alot of systems that beat me. so i'm thinking bad memory now. |

You can turn off vsync to attain a higher frame rate but you may notice visual artifacts like tearing of the graphics. We normally turn off vsync for benchmarking only. When we play games, vsync should be turned on.

The best tests to use are the benchmarks of the games you play.

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | i basically play css and bf2. css runs about 40 to 50fps and drops to like 20 with high action....whether its on 1280x960 with everything on(aa/af hdr) and high settings or 800x600 everything low... which i always thought meant my cpu was crap.......but according to 3dmark06 my cpu scores were fine. and recently i got bf2 and its the same thing, video settings don't really make a difference.... but what annoys me is that the game constantly stutters, so now that plus the fact system info displays only 512 ram(even though in bios and windows task manager it displays 1gb) and the fact 3dmark says i have 1gb ram but only shows me as having one 512 chip installed when i have two, makes me think maybe i have a memory prob. |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | welp i got more ram and that helped big time with the stuttering in bf2 apparenlty u need at least 2 gigs for those 64 player servers it feels... and i overclocked my graphics card with ntunes to increase the memory frequence to 360 from 270. apparently pny underclocks it compared to the other 7600 cards that have 390mhz. and my score jumped from 1800 to 2100 which seems dead normal for my system now. |
