9800GTX is not supposed to be much faster than 8800GTS because it's still based on the same core (refering to G92). G92 should have been named as 8900 or something.

But the GT280 should have been the 'real 9800GTX' because that's a major improvement.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the GtX 200 series. At this moment, the G92 cards are powerful enough for 99% of the games even at high resolutions.

The GTX 280 and 260 cards are HOT and consume a lot of power. Still built using the 65 nm process, the GT200 GPU is really big and HOT. I would wait for the refesh of the GPU which should be smaller, faster, cooler and more efficient.
