Personally, I wouldn't go for the GtX 200 series. At this moment, the G92 cards are powerful enough for 99% of the games even at high resolutions.

The GTX 280 and 260 cards are HOT and consume a lot of power. Still built using the 65 nm process, the GT200 GPU is really big and HOT. I would wait for the refesh of the GPU which should be smaller, faster, cooler and more efficient.
