Reputation: 539 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 19 | general 3dmark scores for these cards will be lower though, the Q series processor boost the 3dmark scores a lot. i think the 260 would be offering great value for money. the 9800GTX, I'm using it right now and I personally think the improvement over the 8800GTS G92 note the rise in 1 generation number, and GTS became a GTX. just based on the name alone, the 9800GTX sounds like it's a greater beast than even the 8800GTX but yeah from what I see, doesn't seem that much better than 8800GTS. it's good to see that the new series would be a real kicker. Seems like some of nVidia's cards only have performance boost in 2 generation steps. |

Reputation: 539 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 19 | erm. chai - not supposed to be much faster then now what it's supposed to be? i'm confused. regardless, my point is that the naming of these cards made it look like 9800GTX would be a much faster card compared to 8800GTS-G92, seeing that when 8 series came into being, the 8800GTS-G80 IIRC was a class apart when it comes to comparing with the 8800GTX. at least even the 8600GT was comparable to the 7900GS and 9600GT was comparable to 8800GT - where the mid-range of the new gen performs similarly to the high-range of the previous gen. |

9800GTX is not supposed to be much faster than 8800GTS because it's still based on the same core (refering to G92). G92 should have been named as 8900 or something. But the GT280 should have been the 'real 9800GTX' because that's a major improvement. | |
