The Crysis one pretty much shows it.

Doubting Adrian's test results?
Was there any overclocking and was it a Gainward Bliss 9600GT 512 with a stock dual slot cooler

I say Crysis why not I am not trying to spread fairy dust but hey lets have some fun with this. You might be surprised

It will be a week or so before I can do this because I just received two samples to review and that machine will be torn apart all weekend while I am working on them. Unless you want me to use my Northwood 2.6 rig its has been pin modded lol.

I say we use Crysis benchmark and all start with the stock core, (shader clock) and mem clock of the highest rated card. That's our reference. From there we can raise cores until someones becomes unstable that will become our reference core. Everybody can continue until they drop out. We then set the reference core and then do the same for shader clock and then mem clock (ATI can skip shader clock).

Let us know and no rush

ROFLMAO! Seriously? Overclocking? Gainward Bliss 9600GT? Dual slot cooler? Does that even matter??

Overclocked 9600GT in SLI can't even beat a 8800GTX in Crysis. I'd be VERY surprised if your overclocked 9600GT can beat 8800GTS 512/9800GTX in Crysis. Even Adrian's result already shows that there is a huge gap between the stock 9600GT and 8800GTX 512, overclocking won't close up the gap much.

Seriously, do we really need to waste time doing comparisons against machines with different test setups? I'd trust results from the SAME test setup any day. Test results from almost everywhere are showing huge performance gap between 9600GT and G92 based cards in Crysis, if you think they are all wrong then get a 8800GTS 512/9800GTX to do benchmarks, then write an article to prove them wrong. End of the story.

and this thread is already going way off topic.

There's like average of 40% difference between 8800GT/GTS and 9600GT in Crysis. Even if you can overclock 50% higher, you are not going to get 40% improvement in speed, that's for sure. And not forgetting that 8800GTS can be overclocked too.

Anyway, now what I'm curious is that why ATi decided to let this HD4xxx series card to be that hot. It's understand that good GC always generate amount of heat but to be able to reach 90 C, that's a bit overboard(even with uncle golddy setup) . If it's 80 on load, that still acceptable in my opinion.

I really love to read goldfries review soon about this card.

P.S: I'm pretty new towards this industry so do pardon me if I said something irrelevant .

It has the power of 9800GTX, yet it's a single slot cooling solution. No surprise about the heat. Just get a decent cooler since the card is already so cheap.

Well I am going to be far to busy to try anyway so piss on it. Why don't go back to trying nothing new again on here perhaps we can re-unite Black Sabbath for an ARP party one last time

I have heard rumours this core runs up to 120C with no issues seems kinda crazy to me and waiting to see what Goldfries finds

The G92 can OC pretty high. It is all good. New cooling arriving next week, patching my Crysis right now to 1.2 and I will look for 4gb of ram.

So exciting! (everyone knows I love to bench!).

Let's say we use higher res (I have 1440x900 and 1680x1050 - yes, wholesome wide screen LCD goodness) as lower res is pretty pointless on the subject of 'pushing'.

Cool my system will be in pieces for a few days but I love to O/C and bench as well. And do things people say I can't do

DYKT: If I raise the shader clock on this card from 1625 to 1900 at stock core and mem clock it will outperform any O/Cing of the core or mem clock. Even running the core at 800 as opposed to the stock 650 .. I like to mod

PPS: This may be the only card I have ever owned I won't go to aftermarket cooling on
