Here just for reference on changes with my system or a general reference for new hardware. I thought both the 3DMark6 and Vantage numbers were very low on this PC Perspective link and that's why I brought it up in the first place

What I am more interested in is power efficiency and temps are there any on that article?

I'm not a fan of multiGPU solutions. Efficiency is very very bad. I take 9800GTX over 9600GT SLI any day.

I am as well but 9800GTX over 9600GT SLI? I am not a big fan of SLI but will try it here soon. On temps the G92 GPU in general is very inefficient and runs very hot. I am looking for better things from NV than the 9800GTX sorry

Back on topic where are the temps and a second set of benchmarks on this 4850?

Can't wait for the release of the 4000series... might get one since it's so cheap compared to NVIDIA 200series.

Another detraction of CF for me is the PCI express lots on the P35 run at half bandwidth with two cards and I will lose my multi monitor support.
You won't lose multi monitor support with CF, but you will on SLI.

Or wait for the GeForce 9800 GTX to fall in price and grab one instead.

Yeah, maybe. But first I need to remove my HDDs and add in new high-capacity ones. Now, my 520W PSU is taxing itself supporting 6 HDDs. If add a 9800GTX, I think the whole thing will go up in smoke.

4850 and 4870 use the same core, right? If the 4870 runs at 750MHz then there should be some decent headroom in the 4850...just need to either ramp up the conservative fan speed or slap on a good cooler. I'm excited

....but I need to get a new mp3 player first. That's higher on the list of spending priorities
