Default OC'ing without results

I was wondering if someone could give me a hand since I'm totally lost now. I'm not what you would call a computer enthusiast, merely a guy racing a dirt car mod on rfactor that would like to increase FPS to lower my lap times. In other words you may have to spell out the answers to this old fart and speak SLOOOWWWLLLYYY.

Here's where I'm at: When I built this system I was getting 60-62FPS in rfactor with everything stock on a fresh build.
Q6600 - 2.4ghz
EVGA 680i SLI-ready MB (I know, I've since read that they're not the best for oc'ing)
EVGA 8800GT
4 gig OCZ 800mghz
Vista

Since then I've oc'd CPU to 2.92@1.4v and 1300 was the best I could get to for FSB. I then read this article the 8800GT oc'ing article on this site and oc'd GPU to 735 Core, 1837 Shader and 1098 Mem clock and the system is still stable. The only problem is that I haven't seen any increase at all in FPS, it's still at 60-62 FPS after all the oc'ing.

I've also turned antialiasing off, am running a low resolution version of the game and have all details turned down.

Could I be running into a bottle neck somewhere that's only allowing that frame rate?

When I go to system information on Nvidia control panel and in Nvidia Monitor they are both reporting the new clock speeds. When I tried to use Nvidia Control Panel to increase the GPU fan speed though it was not available so I used RiveTuner to make the changes. They seem to be working too since I can hear the fan sin up when I load the profile.

Any ideas on how to get the FPS up?
Thanks in advance!

Are you sure even at 60fps it's not enough? Why not lower the details if all you want is FPS?

And since it's stuck at 60fps, it's probably due to VSync turned on. Try forcing it off in game or in Nvidia's control panel.

It must be the Vsync that only allows 60fps as the highest fps displayed on your monitor. Check the in-game settings to disable it.

Sometimes, when you disable Vsync, you can get 'tearing' in games when you move around in the screen. If that does happen I would recommend that you turn it back on (it caps the max FPS to your refresh rate). In those games, I crank up the quality settings (which OCing would have undoubtedly raised the limit).

Default Holy Crap!!!!!

Were you guys ever right! Turned off Vsync and would you believe it's running around 475fps while on the track.

You were right though Chai the 60fps was probably enough since it didn't seem to lower my lap times but, oh well, I guess now I can crank up the detail without slowing my lap times.

Great job guys, Thanks!

Don't worry about the frame rate. If you can hit 60 fps all the time, you are definitely good to go! Just turn on vsync to avoid tearing. It can get really irritating when it happens.
