Probably at 5200 range. Slower than Ti4200 slightly.

So, what do we conclude from this type (or any other) mark score?
Basically, running all that means a lower framerate. (on a R9800 you can't see it, but there is a difference). Basically, 3dmark will play the game demo, base your score on mainly the framerates you get. I'm sure if you turn off all that you'll get a score of around 15k+.

Slightly? Not from what I've seen, FX5200's are only slightly better than a GF4 MX... Unless you take into account the FSAA and AA abilities. Even then it's still quite slow.

Yes, I call 10-15 fps slightly. If you disagree, then I really dunno what to say...

i think we need to be more specific about the FX5200

if not mistaken there's 3 variants
FX5200 non-ultra 64bit
FX5200 non-ultra 128bit
FX5200 Ultra

i believe the 'slightly slower than Ti4200' Chai referred to was the Ultra version. it's slower with AA/AF but almost or might be slightly ahead of TI4200 with AA/AF on.

IMO the FX5200 Ultra is a good budget card IF...again...IF the price is maintained around RM 300 range. however current pricing in M'sia for the Ultra is RM 750 (USD 180+?) is totally absurd, which i rather get me a Radeon 9600 Pro(RM 610 on web, but last i heard is RM 560) and save some cash.

here's an article on the 64bit and 128bit variants.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/d...416065424.html

so if you see a FX5200 non-ultra going cheap, check it first. some people on LYP forums bought it and tested and found out theirs is the 64bit version and it sucks.

Oh I do disagree. considering that 15 frames is the difference between playable and unplayable. e.g. 30 frames and 15 frames per sec. The so called 15FPS difference is blown out the window when you look @ some of the other benchmarks as well.

I knew you would answer me that...fine...as I've said, I have nothing else to say. Wait...Maybe I should rephrase. It's 20% slower not 10fps slower. Because at higher res, Ti4200 will drop at a similar rate. So with your 30 fps vs 15 fps, it's not valid anymore. It would probably be 30fps vs 25fps, or 20fps vs 15fps. To be honest, if the frame rate is only at 15fps, drop the resolution, reduce detail. Simple as that.

And one more thing, you can disagree with me, but everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. When I upgrade, I expect at least 100% improvement over my old card. Let's say R9100 vs Ti4200. Ti4200 is 10%-50% faster than R9100, but even if it's only US$25 difference, I would pick R9100. There's only one reason, because my budget is not limitless. If you wanna pay extra US$25 for that extra 15fps, fine. It's not my money.

And just incase there's more confusion, I'm talking about R9100 vs Ti4200, not 5200.

I was answering Neo's question.

erm. yeah well basically. if you know the resolution you're going to play with at and you know the card's capabilities it really makes sense on going R9100 instead of Ti4200.

going by budget is always the right move. buy the best price/performance ratio card your cash can afford.

in my book it's still R9100, Ti4200 and R9600 Pro(sub RM 650) and R9500 Pro. however my opinion is based on price/performance without considering OC/modded performance.

Heh, quick to bring the radeon into the discussion aren't ya? Out of points are we? Seriously though, there are absolutly no points good about a FX5200. Sure if may be 5fps than 4200 when compared with 4xFSAA and 8xAA on but the framerate is so low with that stuff on there's really no point in using it.

Since you called it quits already, I will too. Look forward to the next battle, whenever it may be
