i'm always been very slow when upgrading GPUs.... i think my gf2ti would last for quite some time till the end of the year...

my prevous card was a premedia 3 create! now imagine that

anyways, what i'm suggesting is this... since u'll be spending Rm1500++ for a GPU, might as well get whats worth for the money at this time. and i can tell u that it's not worth getting the 9700 pro anymore..

might as well get an el-cheapo gf2mx (only Rm100+ i think now..) or use an old GPU wait for another month or two... then get the 9800 and it'll last... seriously, the 9800 is a lot more future proof than the already future proof 9700...

all depends on how much cash he wants to spend. if price diff by a little, go for R9800 Pro.

you can't go wrong even with the R9500 Pro, just that it's a bit pricey here. i'd rather pay an extra RM 100 - 200 for the normal R9700 instead of the R9500 Pro and then overclock it.

my opinion differs. age of the product doesn't matter, as long as it has good price/performance/features ratio and meets your needs and budget. for example, the Ti4200.

Age of the product matters too much IMO, thanks to nvidia's '6 months cycle', your graphics card will outdate sooner than you think...

All the GF4 TI series are not worth buying anymore, except for Ti4200, which I don't think is such a good buy anymore, it was 6 months ago...

All of you certainly have some valide points but as i said.....I am building a new rig from scratch......had already bought an nforce2 board, rams, cpu, h/disk n blah blah blah......let's say if i were to wait fer 2 months b4 the 9800 pro will b available in malaysia then all those h/wares which i had bought would b sitting there collecting dust....in a sense....n if tat's the case then i wouldn't mind spending rm1450 to get the r9700 pro now as prices in italy for a 9700 pro is around RM2020......

UK is extremely expensive! Hercules could be cheaper there. But can never compare with the price here.

the Hercs are good for sound cards even. too bad their video card pricing here is off the mark.
