Default Query on the Gigabyte GF8800 GT (512 MB) DD3

Good morning, good people of ARP.

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all who celebrates CNY. May this year prove to be MOST bountiful to y'all.

I got a question about my recently installed baby. I'm using the Gigabyte GF8800 GT (512 MB), IMHO it's more than a decent card, rite? So, what I'm curious about is, why am I getting a 'line' or 'breakage' everytime I drag a character in a low-end 2D Yahoo games screen. The line appears or rather jitters horizontally across my screen 3/4 from the top.

I also get that 'line' whenever a replay is shown in WE : PES2007,which I think is not so taxing on my system. Honestly, it doesn't really matter or rather it's not a major glitch, but, I'm pretty much proud of this PC setup so, I just need to know if it's the game's fault or something is not fully optimized on my card. Thank you.

Oh, yea.. My casing gets pretty hot as well. That ok?

Two things come to mind and the first is a question. What driver are you using ?

Secondly on the cooling I assume you are referring to heat in your case or ambient cooling. I have seen on here the 8800 series generates a lot of heat especially the GTS as Adrian and Chai have noted here on ARP. Good case cooling is a must although the GT as I have seen generally runs cooler than the GTS.

Check your driver and any probs on other software or games ?

Alrite, I'll definitely check for driver updates once I get connection. I'm in the midst of getting broadband service. Till then, I'll bear with it. No worries, rite? Btw, I'm currently using the driver that is supplied in card's package (CD). Secondly, yeah, I meant ambient heat and does that mean I need additional fans?

So far I've not actually installed any other games yet. I'll sure to ask if I do and are having problems. Thanks.

On ambient heat additional fans and increased airflow help I have 5 120mm fans in my case right now and 3 came with this Cooler Master case. My mobo, cpu and ambient temps run around 22 - 24C.

On drivers might have some for you to try from Regeneration my Bro on NGOHQ .. what OS are you running M8 ?

On drivers, you definitely should get an updated driver. That is no joke... the supplied driver for the card in the package is probably very new for the card.

Mr. Dashken, sir. What do you mean the driver (in the package) is very new for the card? Shouldn't that be a good thing? I will update it anyways as soon as I get my broadband connection up.

Mr. Mac Daddy, sir. I'm currently running windows XP sp3. Fan-wise, more means better, rite? Definitely going to get some more in the near future.

Mr. Dashken, sir. Very new, read : outdated, rite?

GT usually runs hotter than GTS because it uses a single slot cooler.

Get the latest driver from nvidia site.

LOL! What I meant by very new, is actually new when the card was packaged. But when the card was packaged is probably a long time ago. So, very new "then", should be outdated by now. So, yup... get the latest driver. Sorry for the confusion.

Latest driver is best and the reason I asked about OS is Regeneration has coded an optimized Vista driver for NGOHQ. I will keep you updated on an XP release but keep in mind we are doing this ourselves as NV has twice threatened legal action against us.

On case fans and cooling not always more sometimes position and airflow direction changes make a huge difference. Do you have any pics of your case ?
