Smile need help from streamyx new user

Hi,

I just apply for a RM44 package through an agent few days ago, I'm thinking to install streamyx by myself to save RM88 installation fee due to limited budget. I don't have an installation CD, could anyone here teach me how to install it? Could I install without an installation CD?Please advice!!

Thanks!!!!!

THere's no installation CD needed Streamyx isn't a software. All you need is a modem. and windows! or whatever OS you are using (just to keep those linux-fanboys happy)

Yup, PPPOE dialer is required, although WinXP comes with it.

What exactly is a PPPOE dialer?
I've never even heard of it.

Sorry for my ignorance

Hi,

You don't have to use the Installation CD if you prefer to do it manually.

If you are using XP, there's already the inbuilt dialer: Network Connections->Create New Connection->Connect to the Internet->Set my Connection Manually->Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password->... and you do the rest. Insert username, password and stuff like that.

If you are using router, it doesn't need a dialer, just go to the 192.168.1.1 (or any other router address) and reconfigure the username and password.

Hope that helps.

p.s: If you are using Win98 or Linux (certain Linux systems have these onboard) you might need a dialer like WinPOET or something else.

Streamyx uses PPPoE protocol, which requires to be dialed to start a connection. By default WinXP comes with PPPoE dialer, which is why you can use the wizard posted by The_YongGrand above.

For Win2k or older, you are required to install a 3rd party PPPoE dialer to use streamyx.
