Default how to connect to internet

the internet works at my office using proxy IP and port which i enter using Internet Options and then the LAN Settings.

i want to how can i setup the same at utorrent or Limewire types of software. when i see the option there is mentioned like SOCKs SOCK 5 , etc.

what is the correct port. any one.

so that these softwares do work.
one more software is the anitvirus AVG. which downloads the virus updates but cannot because its not configured.

so any help will be appreciated.
thanks

Set them the same settings. I don't use limewire so i have no idea.

Most likely your office proxy server filters/blocks certain services.

You would have to ask your company tech. support for more details.

Hmm.. If they force you to use a proxy, it's likely restricted to just port 80 for web browsing. I think all the other ports are closed. You will have to ask the network guys what ports are open but I think they close them intentionally to prevent "abuse".

Hmm, if i'm not mistaken, whatever proxy settings you enter at IE applies to other programs

No, you can limit it to HTTP if you want to.

nope, usually to only IE-related programs.. like maybe Outlook or something, the rest you will have to set manually.
