For oil in my truck I run Mobil 1 10w-30.

Yeah it's expensive. Like $5.50 a quart usd.

But I like to know it's in there when I floor my truck to pass and my rpms are near the redline.

Are these things any good? Or are they a rip-off?

Rip-off alert! The description of these chips make them sound like high-tech devices that can alter the fuel map in your ECU...they're usually just resistors that alter the output of the air mass meter/manifold absolute pressure sensor. These devices trick your ECU into believing that more air is flowing into the engine and cause the ECU to put more fuel into the mixture. Real world performance gain = 0!

There are actual mod chips though that do work, but they're a lot more expensive and usually plug into either the ECU directly or the diagnostics connector on the car.

Ah, but a better wheel might just improve your handling - did you know that in a Formula 3000 car some years back it was observed that about 30% of the camber variation in hard turns was caused by deflection of the very expensive cast magnesium BBS wheels? See what I learned from a race car dynamics seminar...heheh

Under high lateral loads, the wheel actually starts deforming...this leads to the camber changing...

That's a very bad thing for such expensive rims isn't it?

Hmm.. Is a viscosity of 30 good enough for high temperatures? I remember that SAE40-50 is what's recommended for tropical temperatures, right?

Then again, a lower viscosity would mean lower fuel consumption...
