Default Rechargeable Batties and Charger

Anyone know of any good rechargeable battries and charger? And will a fast charger, like those that can fully charge a battery in 1 hour damage or reduce the battery life or reduce the number of charge cycles of the battery?

Technically, they may reduce the life, but fast chargers have disadvantage too. Because it probably doesn't charge the battery up to the maximum capacity. It takes longer to charge the battery to the maximum capacity. Unless you really need the fast charging, I would get a normal charger with other features like 'refreshing'.

for the charger, there are like 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 1-2 hours, and 4 hours, 5-6 hours. which one is consider normal? and what's 'refreshing'?

Ok.. here's your options..

1) La Crosse BC 900 - http://www.thomas-distributing.com/l...ry_charger.php - This is arguebly one of the best chargers out there. It has four individual charging channel that has customisible charge rates.. and lots more features too!

2) MAHA POWEREX MH-C204W - http://www.thomas-distributing.com/m...ry-charger.htm - Also another advanced charger with many features such as refreshing, trickle charge and much more.

3) But if you can't find any of those, you can also go for the Sony's LCD quick charger. http://rojakpot.pricegrabber.com/rat...3830/id_type=M

You can do a google search and see that these are all highly recommended chargers. I personally have already bought the La Crosse BC-900 charger... gonna get it from my cousin who just arrived here in Msia from US

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to add, charging times depends on how much the charger 'pushes' into the batteries. It's actually best to slow charge them as this will keep the temperature during charging down and lengthen the lifespan of your battery.

So at best practice, always charge overnight. What some people do is to keep their batteries on trickle charge (little charges over time to keep it near 100%. For this, the Maha Powerex C204W does a pretty good job with it's new trickle charge algorithm.

ZuePhok - good point, some advance charger is too expensive that its much cheaper to just buy new batteries then buying the expensive charger to increase battery life.

peaz - those site seem to be US base. I prefer UK base site, much less trouble with delivery and cheaper.

Is it really that cheap? RM10 per cell is not exactly cheap IMO... I hate it when my batteries are out when I'm using it! If I have a choice, I must make sure I get the proper stuff.

batts cheap? It's only cheap if it's bought from the 'bulk' source retail pricing of these batts is still not cheap. 2 x 2500mAH Energizer NiMH AA batts costs about RM50, that's about RM25 per batt... Heh.

Anyways. There's always a UK site that sells the same item. I'm only showing what it looks like along with the specs. You can always try to search for UK sites holding them. Trust me when I say that a good charger makes a hell of a difference.

I've seen those UniRoss chargers and batteries here too. But I have yet to hear any reviews on them. You might also want to do some research here. http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM

IMHO, this is that I think about batteries. It's basically like the power source/juice that powers the camera without which the camera is useless. So, why don't you give it the best you can afford?

Sorry for digging up this old thread.

But I found that 2500mAH Energizer NiMH is one of the best battery! After more than 2 weeks, my flash still charges up in 4 seconds (the fastest)!!!
