Some toys, clothes, but that's not important. From all the charity work I've done, my observation of these kids in these homes.. they want just one thing..

"Companionship"

Play with them, sing for them, bring your guitar if you know how to play one.

Doesn't matter if you didn't bring the above said items too, doing an act of service to them matters most to them than what they'll get.

Oh, and bring a camera along. Kids love to pose. And let them play with your camera if they want to

True enough I think.. there's the money thing again. A lot of people think charity means "money" or something material. If I could give these kids something, it would be a future. I would tell them, I'm sorry, but it's gonna be tougher for you to survive that it is for your average everyday human, because people are not going to believe you. They are going to look down on you because you're poor, or disabled or whatever. You're just going to have to prove to them that you're not only just as good, but better. People maybe need to see that not everything is about money or material gain. Or maybe it is, depending on your own personal beliefs I guess. Personally though, sheer bullheaded belief in what I can do (and not what I can't) has pulled me through tons of times. Self-confidence is an amazing thing. But then again, so is a WOOHOO ! in the right place

If I could give them something, it would be the Internet and an account at Rojakpot. Computer literacy is practically a living skill these days, and right now I think there's still a shortage of people in that area, because people don't know (or don't want to know) how to get online. If you're disadvantaged, the Internet is the absolute sheep's nether regions because (1) it's cheap (2) you don't need a license for it and (3) you don't need to travel.

Because of this, it's ideal for cash-strapped charities to use as teaching and learning tools. Okay, so maybe there's that part of the Internet, but I think with appropriate controls, it should be fairly safe.

My class lecturer organized an outing to a home for children with AIDS. All we did was organize a small party and clay modeling contest for the children. We also sang for them and played with them and well... fed them as well. It was a real eye-opener.

I agree with the others that spending time with them would be the best gift. You also seem pretty good with kids what. So go play with them, bro! =D

Errr.... internet? You first need to do these things:

!) Buy computers for them, and adequately
2) Install Windows (which means, paying for licenses) unless you install Linux
3) TEACH them how to use it, and good luck at that
