do you shop on ebay?

hey guys,

i'm just wondering how effective ebay is ?

thinking of getting some RAMs
but i'm not sure how safe it is to get it from there.

care to explain any good or bad experiences ?

Why would you wanna get ram there? Just get em from the e-tailers. I buy a lot of stuff from ebay (for some hobbies) but I don't trust ebay for somethings and PC parts is one of em.

Well, someone helped me to buy some expensive camera stuffs from ebay before. You can get some pretty good deals there sometimes.

Have to exercise a bit of caution on eBay...a lot of fakes, a lot of scammers.
Talking about RAM, when I was shopping for parts, I saw a notice in one of the shops warning customers about fake Corsair RAM.

Warranty may also be an issue when you buy from eBay.

Standard advice is to check the seller's feedback, make sure they have an established record over a long period of time. And if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

Exactly why I dont buy PC parts from fleabay....

And 98.9% of the time, its more expensive to buy stuff from there (don't be fooled by the prices, most winning bids are in the final 5 secs - usually last second.)

I think it goes that even if you buy from a bad seller you could always report them and I think ebay/paypal would refund you the amount you paid for it.

Only bad situation I had was a spammer won an item I was selling who was later banned. I issued an unpaid auction and ebay refunded me the listing fee.

I don't think people should just rely on the safety nets provided by eBay/Paypal. IMHO everyone should still take steps to protect themselves (before things go wrong), and only turn to dispute resolution systems as a last resort.

I've purchased from eBay before. Lots of untrustworthy people there, so be very careful. Be VERY wary.
