Seriously, language is not the main issue here. Most Japanese can't even speak a single of of English. It doesn't really matter if our teachers can't speak English properly if they educate us properly in Bahasa Malaysia.

It all boils down to culture and attitude. One of the greatest failures is due to the lack of proper leadership. If the leaders aren't setting a good example, it influences everyone else. Soon enough, it becomes a habit, an attitude, a culture.

A bad education system is just a result of poor leadership. It is the result of idiots that have no proper vision dictating the welfare of the younger generation, not the root cause of the problem.

Likewise, everything else be it constructing a dodgy ferris wheel or the way of life of the general society, it's the failure of the leaders.

Am i just conveniently pushing all blames to so-called leaders? Nope. Actions without vision is just an activity. Malaysia has been involved in too much pointless activities for far too long. If the leaders themselves don't know what they are doing, should we expect the wider society to know better under their guidance?

Running around in circles planning pointless activities gets no one no where. A culture can only be changed slowly with proper leadership.

As said in the saying, it takes 10 years to grow a tree, but it takes more than 100 years to cultivate a population... Not sure whether it's correct or not, i read it in a book...

I agree. Language per se is not the issue. But switching from a tradition of using English language as the medium of instruction to Bahasa Malaysia without a proper plan of transition is what killed our system.

Why do you think we are switching back to English now? They refused to admit it but they KNOW they made a mistake switching the education system from English to Malay. If using Malay is such a great idea, why are we reverting to English again?

I'm not saying that any one language is superior to another. As I said earlier, it's one thing for a country to educate their students in their own language when they have been doing it for decades.. if not centuries. It's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT matter to switch from one language to another.

What our "brilliant" leaders have done is analogous to asking the Japanese to immediately switch from using Japanese to English in their education system. How well do you think that would work out?
