Oh well, those parties who've had it too good for them haven't tasted defeat in such a long time, not prepared for it, and never expected it. In fact they were OVER confident.
Now they're biting the earth and likely at wits end. So be it!. I'll help them bite dust more if I can. I hope they're voted OUT completely next GE.

I'm aware of that.....RM45 ish billion ringgit last year, and that was when fuel prices were at around 70 USD. The distribution of it has certainly been bloody unfair, having had a select group of people profiting from it, and also using revenues to bail out failed government projects run by their cronies. I still believe though that there's a net benefit overall to us vs. subsidies alone, though you might disagree on it. I'm very hopeful, that these elections would lead to a much more transparent BN government due to competition from PR. Time will tell, but I'm hopeful.

It's time we started seeing some competition for our votes, and I think most of us will welcome competition, in the capitalistic or democratic sense.

This is the problem with our country's youths. Little wonder why our leaders are so clueless.

Do note that he's a student representative. Someone who's supposed to have some leadership qualities.

Now this is something... The new Selangor government will no longer allow "direct negotiations" of tender awards. In other words, it will be a much more level playing field from now on. Finally... The Opposition has done in less than 2 months what BN could not do in over 30 years.

Quote:
(Bernama) SHAH ALAM, April 12 -- The state government will no longer award tender to Bumiputera companies through direct negotiation to avoid the tender being monopolised by certain group.

Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the move was necessary as 98 per cent of the state government-funded projects in the previous administration were awarded to certain group.

"I've analysed all and found that certain projects were given to certain group.

"Even though the name of the companies are different but the shareholders are the same," he told reporters after opening the 22nd annual general meeting the Gabungan Ikhtisas dan Usahawan Bumiputera Anak Selangor here Saturday.

The government would however continue to give assistance to Bumiputera contractors in obtaining projects but it would be based on their ability and experience, he said.

Abdul Khalid said the list of contractors awarded with state projects would be announced but the process might take time.

He assured contractors awarded with government projects through direct negotiation that they would not be blacklisted except in cases when they failed to carry out the projects according to schedule.

"We will study and evaluate the projects given to the contractors involved," he said.

Earlier in his speech Abdul Khalid said he would not use what was known as the "magic pen" of the menteri besar to sign and approve projects.

As such, he said, there was no need for contractors to come to his office for the magic pen.

"I've thrown away the magic pen," he said.

He said all decisions would have to be agreed upon by the state executive council members and the officers involved.

"Previously, the menteri besar need only write `agree' and the officers would abide by the decision..

"I want to change that attitude; I don't want the menteri besar to be the sole decision maker... the executive council members and the officers should also be involved in the process," he said.

Knee jerk reaction from clueless UMNOputras...

They actually seem to think blogs are miracle weapons and blogging will bring them back in power. Don't they know it's just a MEDIUM???

Quote:
Umno Youth candidates told: No blog, no post

CANDIDATES contesting some posts in Malaysia's ruling party will be required to set up blogs, an official said.

It was a surprising turnaround for governing politicians who until recently did not think much of online political writing.

Umno Youth secretary-general Abdul Rahman Dahlan said everyone vying for national-level posts in the youth wing must have blogs to introduce themselves and their programmes ahead of party polls in December.

'All candidates must have blogs,' he said yesterday.

'If not, they are not qualified to be leaders.'

In the past, party politicians had accused bloggers of spreading lies and rumours.

Many of Malaysia's blogs contain critical commentary on the government.

But now, even Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin - who once compared bloggers to monkeys living by the law of the jungle - has a blog.

The decision appeared to be aimed at countering heavy losses that the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition suffered in last month's general election, partly because it underestimated the power of online campaigning.

'The last election showed that we lost the cyberwar. We need to embrace the technology now,' said Datuk Abdul Rahman.

He said party members would get help if they want to run for a post but do not know how to create a blog.

It is not known if any Umno senior leaders will also start blogs to emulate opposition Democratic Action Party leader Lim Kit Siang, who has a popular Web journal.

Anyway, should the Government control the education system/services like colleges/universities, or is it a private matter?

Looks like currently the system is still politicised.

Of course... The universities are more or less indoctrination facilities for BN, mainly UMNO, with many students recruited into the party even though they are not supposed to be involved in politics. What can we do? After all, uni administrations are heavily-influenced by UMNO.

Hmm.. A coincidence? Or something more??

The PKR is going to hold a dinner to mark Black 14th today... and Raja Petra Kamarudin is also celebrating his wedding anniversary at the same place!

The PKR's dinner was not given a permit by the police but they maintained it would be a private affair. The police, of course, insist they would be there to "ensure peace".

Raja Petra though has virtually invited all and sundry to come celebrate his wedding anniversary with him at the same place!

You have to admire the beauty of the whold thing.

Quote:
35 years ago today, Marina and I got married after meeting five years before that in 1968 when she was in form two and I form five. We now have five children and four grandchildren. Although we do not plan to have any more children, we do hope and pray that we shall see at least a dozen or more grandchildren before we go to meet our Maker.

Tonight, we shall be celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary, plus of course the 40th Anniversary of God ‘throwing’ us both together.

I have decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the Kelab Sultan Sulaiman in Kampong Baru, Kuala Lumpur. The reason I have chosen this venue is not only because that club is owned by the Selangor State Government (which means I will not face any hassle in obtaining permission to use the club -- although if they do hassle me then I will abuse my ‘privileges’ and get the palace to hassle them back), but also for sentimental reasons.

You see, the Kelab Sultan Sulaiman was where the Malays held their first gathering which resulted in the ‘struggle’ for Merdeka and which finally saw the birth of this nation on 31st August 1957. It was at this club that this nation called Malaysia, which we love so much, was mooted and finally saw life.

Therefore, celebrating our wedding anniversary there will not only be about the 35 years of happiness that Marina and I enjoyed as husband and wife, but also about what may have never happened if Malaya had then taken another route from the one it did whereby our paths would certainly have never crossed.

I invite all Malaysians to join Marina and me in celebrating our wedding anniversary tonight. Please come and share our joy.

Oh, by the way, I heard that the Selangor ruling party (which is temporarily the opposition in Parliament) is holding a ‘Black 14’ celebration there as well. I am not too sure about the status of that gathering and whether it has the necessary approval from the police. Anyway, just in case, please stay away from that gathering but please do come to Marina’s and my 35th Wedding Anniversary.
