But two strings on one string - how am I going to press that?

Sure must be very funny. And sure as hell I can't play p-i-m-a on that thing. Well, I gotta improvise!

On tuning? Tune them individually that's what I did on the 12 string the strings have a different tone but should be tuned to the same frequency. It as a larger and a smaller string for each set right ?

LOL on p-i-m-a

Haha... well, I need the pick or the plectrum for it to work on my music.

Now I'm searching for the guides of how to play the mandolin... all in youtube. Those sheet music, I can just grab it from my baroque music pieces, play the upper notes and drop the bass notes since a mandolin is almost all monophonic.

I'll start with Vivaldi if I got that thing. Now I have to verify with the person who sell this thing. I don't want to get a lemon, y'see? hehehe...

and one update - I found out that many classical and early music mandolin uses oval holes while the one in the auction is a F-hole instead.

Any differences of the sound? Sharper? Mellower?

I think personally the sound would be tighter as it would resonate less. But will have to check more. I am off to the cottage tomorrow as its Canada Day here tomorrow .. but will check when I get back

For now heres a Wik link you might want to check out if you haven't

Cool man. You have a holiday cottage... must be fantastic!

I might be testing that little mandolin maybe on this week on my way to my college. I've personally heard F-holes mandolin played with baroque tunes and it sounds sharper.

I wanna play blues on it but there's no such music played on mandolin, haha!

And, I have to re-accustom myself to the different fingerboard on that mandolin since it's not the casual EADGBE tuning.

I just got that instrument just now.

The good thing is, I know how to press and pick the thing okay.

The bad thing is.,.. action TOO HIGH!!

How am I gonna do a nut job on it? The whole 1st fret and the 1st string is too high and I have to press it so hard...
