Default Mandolin?

Hey, (and Mac daddy!) anyone plays mandolin here? Well, I'm actually fascinated by Vivaldi's Mandolin concertos (and others) so I'd love to try on it as well.

I saw a mandolin being sold cheaply in my local auction site. But I seriously don't know about these strings, and the tuning, and the others. Any guides? (well, searched the internet, didn't help as well, or I must search harder!)

I haven't played with them much will look around myself for ya Bro. I know the strings and tunings are different like a banjo or violin.

Will post back later

The tunings are a bit weird which is EADG, and there's double strings per string. Hell, I'm dead sure that I can't use my fingers to pluck the strings, gotta need the pick! (or plectrum)

I loved to play baroque music on it only. I'll try to play music of other genres too, but all that fascinates me now are Vivaldi's concertos.

On tunings thats what I thought but couldn't remember its been years since I played one lol. Most 4 stringed instruments use EADG including 4 string bass guitar. I am in between errands lol will still see what additional info I can find and post it up for ya. I have done some finger picking on a 12 string acoustic which should be similar I think

I seldom use a pick playing acoustic I played the 12 string finger picking. I did so for "Rain" if I recall correctly

I'll check the auction site within a few days. I need to enquire about the tuning. Hell, I afraid I got a decorative one!

Also, I'm pretty not sure whether my guitar tuner will work on a mandolin, I hope they are all the same hertz and the same note as of the guitar!

Actually your guitar tuner should be fine I use harmonics to tune my guitar. It will pick up every octave above or below standard guitar tunings. I still haven't had time to search for stuff been really busy
