IMHO, nothing worse can happen than it already has. Competition has always been good to the consumers. I think the same applies here. imagine if there's no 'Anwar' or 'RPK' factor in this recent election, what more would the current 'leaders' be doing to bleed our economy. Do you think the recent scandals such as the Puspakom one be revealed (although I think the guys at Puspakom is merely being the scapegoats for the current G to show that it's doing something)? Well, I think not. So, like Chai said, what more is there to lose anyway? Either way, we screwed if no changes take place.

Actually, ALL Malaysians have nothing left to lose by voting for the Opposition. It's not only Chinese or Indians or non-Bumis who were persecuted. Heck, 99% of the Bumiputras never reaped the benefits of the NEP.

In its present form, the NEP is nothing more than apartheid dressed in the skin of social equality. So, I'm not surprised at all that many Bumiputras are against the NEP. It has been nothing but a lose-lose policy, except for the select few UMNOputras and their coterie of BN component parties.

It's important to note that not only UMNO has used NEP for their own financial interests. The other BN component parties are doing the same thing, even though by definition, they are not Bumiputras. That has not stopped them from abusing it to make themselves rich beyond belief.

We would only be fools for believing these politicians, whether they be Malay, Chinese or Indian or other races. Whatever the colour of their skin, they are all corrupt to the core.

You see...what I'm trying to say here is that, to me the changing of power from BN to PKR is not gonna make much difference to the average Malaysian like me.

To me its just a transfer of power and wealth from one small group of people to another small group of people.

I dont trust BN and I dont trust PKR either. So all this excitement about Anuar becoming a new PM doesnt mean shit to an average person like me.

If it's simple things like petrol price drop, I'm sure it will benefit you, whether directly or indirectly. Of course this is just an example, and PROVIDED that if he promises what he said of course.

One of my aunt has already gone around telling our relatives to stock up on essentials because a "closely-connected" friend told her that there would be a riot when Anwar succeeds.

I, for one, am NOT going to bother. The only threat of another May 13 comes from UMNO and their Mat Rempit hoodlums trying to hold onto power. I'm confident that our Malay friends and neighbours will stand up for us, just as I would for them. Bring it on!!!

Actually, I think it will make a big difference.

From my perspective, BN is an overweight, senile dinosaur. Kinda like Dr. Mahathir on a very bad diet.

It has gotten too bloated on excesses and functions only to enrich themselves. Since when have they done anything for the people?

PKR, on the other hand, is a relatively new party. Granted, it was born to free Anwar from prison, but we have to admit that it is the first mainstream, non-racial party that counts many idealistic young professionals in its ranks. Even if we do not trust Anwar, I think we can count on these idealists to keep his "old habits" in check.

Even if Anwar succeeds and he turns out to be nothing more than old Mr. UMNO in disguise, this will give reformists within BN the opportunity to throw out the trash and reform their parties. BN, as it is, is beyond redemption.

But coming back to the people... I think we really need a change in leadership. Abdullah Badawi is too weak a leader. Never mind he has no vision and is the furthest thing from inspiration. What's worse is that he makes NO EFFORT to lead.

Since he came into power, the economy has gone downhill. Costs have risen, our competitiveness has dropped, our intellectuals have fled / been chased out, our salaries have stagnated and our future is bleak. Should we give him another 4 years to "try"? HELL NO!

IMHO, we need someone "kick ass" to get into Putrajaya and shake things up. We need to be more proactive and prepare for the future, instead of counting on more subsidies and our petroleum reserves to bail us out again and again.

Look at the recent Budget 2009. OMG. Have you seen a less-inspiring budget ever? Is that the budget that is going to see us through the tough times ahead? Good God. Mahathir may be senile and evil but this Badawi is just plain STUPID.

If we let him continue with his plans, we might as well lump ourselves with nations like Somalia and North Korea. No, we need someone to correct this problem now, or we are ALL screwed.

IMHO, the petrol subsidy should really go. But so should the ridiculously high tax on vehicles. The subsidy breeds inefficiency and the tax encourages cronyism and corruption.

If we properly manage our petroleum sales, we could have a fantastic public transportation system TOGETHER with a fantastic road system.

Think about it. Maglev trains between cities and MASS (not the stupid Light version) rapid transits within cities. Those who have gone to HK and even Singapore will understand this when I say, with such a seamless system, who the heck needs cars?

With most people taking public transportation which will be cheap, fast and eco-friendly, this will leave our roads less congested. Win-win situation.
