Should I or shouldn't I?

I bet most of us receive emails everyday, either company emails or private. This question is mostly about company emails.

1) If I request for something and someone sends it to me but I need to feedback to him/her but not immediate. Should I send a thankyou email first? But what if he/she is a very busy person?

2) What if in that particular email list has a few others as well? Should I reply to all or only reply to him/her if you agree on 1) above?

If I'm the recipient, I really don't know. If he/she didn't reply me, I'd think like my effort is not appreciated. But if he/she replies with a thankyou, I'd think that's a waste and waste my time to read that email.

Dunno la... hard to decide. But IMHO, it actually depends on the person... but in general, should I reply or shouldn't I?

3) What if I reply with a thankyou email... and should the recipient reply back with a "Welcome" email? LMAO!!!

For corporate communications, if there are multiple people addressed on the emailed as well as CC'd, usually I would hit reply all UNLESS if it is a thank you in which I would simply send a thank you to the person who needs it.

And usually the thank you email is the last of it, if you do get a you're most welcome (which I have sometimes - usually "It was my pleasure" etc etc), no real response is needed.

plus the thank yous won't clutter up the email chain anyways (recipient will usually go back to the chain and hit reply all from there anyways).

So common courtesy is a very nice thing, just be sure to hit reply and not reply all.

Simple. Replying thank you is better than not replying at all.

Like Psykhotik said, just reply to the person, no need to cc.
