Haha - switching to DDR2 is a very good choice since RAM prices are rock-bottom... but getting an X1950 AGP isn't - they are very expensive. I personally suggest getting an X1950 PCI-E like the others said - I have purchased one and it's well and good. (of course it isn't really up to the task when I play Crysis at high settings.) The PCI-E are the mainstream nowadays and getting AGP systems are pretty tough too. For a budget CPU change, I recommend the E2140 or E2160 - they are nice, cheap little gems, and could be whooping Pentium D's back in terms of price/performance ratio! Plus, they game pretty well too when overclocked.

Reputation: 802 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 10 | I would upgrade the mobo first as mentioned and DDR2 is cheap picking some up myself even though I am not upgrading right away ... check this price out after rebate ... how can I not pick some up Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : OCZ (OCZ2P800R22GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC Revision 2 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit. On the X1950 AGP I also agree with the others save it for a nice PCIE card |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | mhm ok i will get ddr2 tomorrox(kingmax is ultra cheap) and start saving money for graphics card, when i ge enough money for the card and some extra, i will sell my mobo and cpu and with the money i get from that, plus that "extra", i will buy something decent(E4500 probably), and buy a new card(1950 seems nice, 3850 is in the same price range but ill see) and i will be done... i hope will be done in march if everything goes well btw what are these pcie2.0 things? are they expensive and should i get the board that has 2.0? thanks |

This is for the newer generation on ATI GPU's as used in the HD3850 and HD3870. On PCIE x 2 and thats what I think you were referring too they support TV tuners and upcoming audio cards, etc ... might be handy to have a couple around they essentially take place of standard PCI devices A word of advise if you are planning on running Crossfire(X) and using those PCIE x 2 slots go with the X38 chipset as we found out P35 cascades those when running Crossfire and you can't use them. |
