Angry #$%#* another problem

am i cursed or something?
again i have a problem.... i don't know whats wrong so i put it in the mother of all forums
ok so ive had this problem since i cleeaned my cpu cooler.
after i cleaned it, whenever i play some game it would just shut down after a minute or two.
i thought it was some cooling issue so i cleaned every single cooler on my motherboard and today ive replaced thermal paste thing(that gum-like thing) ive turned on my pc
and i realised that i forgot to plug in the ps2/usb power pin. i turned it off, plugged in and when i try to boot windows it just crashes, dies...
i have to unplug my power supply to be able to turn it on again(if i dont i get black screen and it shuts down in few seconds)
then when i get to choose which os to boot(both are the same but one has custom boot-screen)
usually there it crashes, if not then even earlier
i have checked entire system if it has dust or anything but its clean like new
tried to boot. another failure.
then i was looking around my mobo and saw the speaker pin. ive plugged it in snd now while the mobo POSTs i hear one beep
thats it.
i have double checked and triple checked that everything is connected and stable.
gpu isnt the prob thats all i know, i have two cards and with both the boot fails. anyways heres my configuration:
asrock 4coredual-vsta
celeron d 356@3333mhz
512 mb of ram(very old)
sapphire 9600pro atlantis agp(~1 year old)
40gb 512rpm hard drive(ultra mega old)
300w power supply bought few months ago(very cheap, about 15$)(bought becouse last one died after a lightning hit my house lol)
bios ver: 1.60
win xp pro
i think thats all, i have 2network cards plugged in for no reason.

so i think something of this is dying or has died
my dvd drive died few days ago, it was producing weird vibration noises, and bios cant see it anymore so i unplugged it.
wow... thanks 4 reading, now help if ya can!
thanks

Did you remount the CPU cooler properly? Check and see if it's mounted correctly.

Otherwise, I would suspect it's a PSU or motherboard problem....

Go into the BIOS and take a look at the PSU voltage ratings. See if they are within norms.

cpu is fine, i have just tested my brothers PSU and it doesnt work with it either.
i have found a small scraatch next to cpu cooler, its small but could it be the reason of failing?
its from last week, i was having troubles putting cooler back to its place, i guess that it happened then.
after last weeks cleaning, i started having problems withshut downs when i was playing any games.
today i put new thermal paste on cpu and since then it wont boot

also i havent found that voltage ctrl but i restored everything to default, result: same $h!t

Scratch on the CPU cooler? Unlikely.

What kind of thermal paste did you put on the CPU? Is it conductive? If so, did you accidentally put any on the surface mounted components on the CPU?

Check the BSOD messages, and write down the last part of the message.

We also need to know the PSU brand too.

Finally, did you ever get the material into the 775 LGA socket?
